Official Start of the Academic Year 2006/2007 at UC3M

The King and Queen of Spain chaired the official inauguration of the Academic Year 2006/2007, which took place on September, 29, at the Auditorium Padre Soler, in the Leganés Campus of the UC3M. The event was attended by the Rectors of the Spanish universities. There were speeches from the UC3M's General Secretary, professor Carlos Fernández Liesa, the Rector, professor Gregorio Peces-Barba, the President of the Madrid Regional Government, Esperanza Aguirre, the Minister of Educaction, Mercedes Cabrera and HRM the King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, who declared the academic year started.

The UC3M Rector, Gregorio Peces-Barba, gave thanks to the King and the Queen for attending once again the UC3M, “where they are respected and beloved, and we fully appreciate their attentions with us”. The Rector gave also thanks to the Minister for having choosen one of our campuses for this event. Finally, the Rector thanked the President of Madrid for the good solutions proposed, in cooperation with the rectors of the universities of Madrid , in the field of financing.
